10 Worst Performances In MCU History (So Far)
7. Christopher Eccleston - Malekith
Before the mighty Taika Waititi thoroughly overhauled a franchise in need of an Asgardian face-lift, the first two entries into the solo Thor-sphere left a lot to be desired in all honesty. Though the God of Thunder himself and his meddling brother still exuded enough charm and vulnerability to capture audiences' attention, the same simply could not be said for their foes.
Most notably, Christopher Eccleston's once-anticipated decision to immerse himself in the world of the leader of the Dark Elves, Malekith, acted as perhaps the most disappointing big hurdle any of Earth's Mightiest Heroes have cleared so far. Confusing stoic and intense with just plain dull from start to finish, Eccleston's Dark World antagonist didn't do very much of note, aside from ordering Kurse to kill Thor's mum, Frigga.
Eccleston has since admitted that the role was little more than a paycheque for him, declaring that working on the project made him feel like putting a gun in his mouth, mirrored in the fact that the actor pumps about as little energy and intent as humanly possible into the performance before being mercifully put out of his misery late in the day.
