2. Sir Ben Kingsley - Trevor Slattery
Roped into the larger Marvel universe seemingly to take the reins of one of Tony Stark's most formidable adversaries from the comic book pages, much of Iron Man 3's promotional material and a decent chunk of the film itself was dedicated to a Sir Ben Kingsley dominating the screen with his intense and unsettling turn as The Mandarin.
However, quickly pulling the rug on those watching on, it soon became clear that the well-respected Brit was actually playing nothing more than a bumbling thespian who had been brought on board to pretend to be this titanic villain. In isolation, this moment wasn't half bad and acted as a welcome unexpected shift for some. But what it led to later down the road was less well-received.
Popping back up in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings once again as fish-out-of-water Trevor Slattery, Kingsley sticks out for all the wrong reasons and is routinely called upon to guide our heroes despite being, yet again, a bit of a bumbling fool, all in all.
Between the poorly pitched one-liners and fact that he serves hardly any real purpose other than being a knowing nod to the past and the tour guide that gets the team to Ta Lo (but surely Shang-Chi could've conversed with the mythical Morris, with his mum being from Ta Lo, right?), Kingsley's second shot at Slattery glory went down like a led balloon.
