10 Worst Performances In Sci-Fi Movie History
3. Eddie Redmayne As Balem Abrasax - Jupiter Ascending
Jupiter Ascending was a massive disappointment across the board.
A space opera written and directed by the Wachowskis, starring Channing Tatum, Mila Kunis and Eddie Redmayne? Surely that's worth seeing, isn't it?
Well, no. It isn't.
While there are a number of glaring issues with Jupiter Ascending, one of the most blatantly obvious is Eddie Redmayne's incredibly over-the-top performance as villain Balem Abrasax.
With the actor fresh off the back of his Academy Award winning performance in Stephen Hawking biopic The Theory of Everything, the reason for this strange, uncharacteristic performance is anyone's best guess.
Still, it's hard to be upset by Redmayne's acting, because it's just so entertaining.
Yes, it's bad, but in the so-bad-it's-good way that will ensure it lives on for years to come. There are countless moments where the acclaimed actor appears to channel Tommy Wiseau. And while it did nothing to prop up this ill-conceived and uninteresting piece of filmmaking, his performance certainly captured our attention, which is more than can be said for the rest of Jupiter Ascending.
