10 Worst PG-13 Horror Films Since 2010

8. Victor Frankenstein

Polaroid Horror
20th Century Fox

With a recognisable name in the title and a cast including James McAvoy, Daniel Radcliffe, Charles Dance, and Andrew Scott, it seemed highly unlikely that 2015’s Victor Frankenstein would be a flop.

Unlikely, but, as it transpired, not impossible.

The film acts as a prequel to the well-known story, as assistant Igor (Radcliffe) tells the tale of how the once-promising doctor (McAvoy) slowly transformed into a twisted monster. There was just one problem - it was really boring.

In trying to make Victor into a suave antihero, all this movie did was expose how uninteresting he was without his most famous creation. Audiences were left waiting and waiting for something to happen, only to be greeted with a standard adventure plot that wasn’t very scary and had little to do with the original mythology.

If that wasn’t bad enough, the finale is wrapped up with a saccharin line about how Igor was Frankenstein’s “greatest creation”. Bleugh.

A massive waste of a stellar cast and a tantalising opportunity, Victor Frankenstein was left desperate waiting for lightning to strike, but the spark just never arrived.
