10 Worst Rock Music Film Biopics Ever

2. Man In The Mirror: The Michael Jackson Story

Rushed out in 2004 to coincide with Jackson’s then-current legal difficulties, this film is a mess of bad performances and terrible dialogue. From the opening minutes - which see Diana Ross appearing to the young Michael Jackson in a vision - immediately you know you’re in for an “interesting” ride, to say the least…

Films like John Lennon biopic Nowhere Boy get away with not licensing any songs by the featured artist because they are set in that artist’s youth, before they were famous.

That doesn’t really work for Jackson unless someone wants to make “Michael Jackson: The Infant Years.” The former child star was world famous almost his entire life. Man In The Mirror cleverly sidesteps this issue by… just not using any of his songs and pretending like that isn’t a big deal -even in scenes that show Michael performing on stage.

Finding an actor who bore a strong likeness to Jackson was never going to be easy, given the singers’ fondness for plastic surgery, but poor old Flex Alexander looks like someone’s been at himself with face paints rather than offered a professional make-up artist.

Meanwhile, much of the film is shot with a motion sickness-inducing hand-held style that looks like the director let a small child operate the camera.
