10 Worst Sci-Fi Horror Movies Of All Time
1. Alone In The Dark
When you're watching a film made by Uwe Boll, you have to set your standards to rock bottom. Having said that, his 2005 horror flick, Alone in the Dark, is terrible even by Uwe Boll standards. The film, starring Christian Slater and Tara Reid, is an adaptation of the influential survival horror game. Considering it has a rating of 1% on Rotten Tomatoes, it won't surprise you to learn Alone in the Dark is considered the worst video game adaptation ever made.
In the film, Christian Slater plays an occult detective who learns of a race of demons that are preparing to invade the world. At least... I think that's what it's about. The story is so incomprehensible, Boll was forced to tack on a scrolling crawl in the opening to summarise the plot (which barely helped). According to the writer, Blair Erickson, most of the scenes that drive the plot or characters were chucked out because Boll wanted to focus on "bimbo blond archeologists, sex scenes, Matrix slow-motion gun battles, and car chases".
Alone in the Dark commits the worst sin of all: it's not even entertainingly bad. It's awful from start to end and doesn't have a single redeeming quality.
