On the one hand, Anakin Skywalker is a talented Jedi Knight, a successful military commander, and a member of the Jedi High Council. On the other hand, he's the apprentice of Darth Sidious, a Dark Lord of the Sith, and the man responsible for the destruction of the Jedi.

There are many parts to Anakin/Vader, and while Vader stands as one of the best villains in all of science-fiction, getting to that point was no easy task. In The Phantom Menace, Anakin was an adorable little kid who was a brilliant inventor and podracer, but it wouldn't last forever.

As he matured, he became something of a petulant and disobedient annoyance, who continuously did the opposite of what he was told. He married the woman he loved, but in doing so, he set himself down the path to the Dark Side by forming an attachment, which Jedi are forbidden from doing.

To save his wife, he crossed a line and became one of the evilest beings in the galaxy. He slaughtered the youngling Jedi, he Force Choked Padmé, and he fought his Master. In the end, Anakin betrayed everything and everyone, making him one of the worst people in all of sci-fi.
