10 Worst Superhero Movie Posters

1. X-Men: First Class

The very first poster ever released for Matthew Vaughn's excellent X-Men: First Class was this horrendous one-sheet.

It isn't as outright offensive or painful to look at as many of the other entries on this list, but it is by far the most bafflingly terrible. Apparently, Fox just wanted an image to sell the fact that James McAvoy would be playing a younger version of Patrick Stewart's Charles Xavier. But there are much more effective and efficient ways to get that message across to the general movie-goer.

The cutout silhouette of Professor X against the white backdrop is goofy enough, but layering a giant McAvoy face over it with some of the worst photoshop technology available makes it unbearable. Not to mention that McAvoy's face is yet another to be victimized by digital touch-ups, that makes his skin look far too smooth and all but erase all of his face's definable features.

All in all, it is jaw-dropping that this was ever released by a major studio. This would be embarrassing to release even as a fan-made poster, much less as an officially sanctioned one-sheet for a summer blockbuster.
