9. ...And It's Genuinely Difficult To Resist Leaks
On the flip side, just knowing that there are leaks out there regarding films you're majorly excited about can be an unpleasant experience, even if you don't want to see them. Why? Because (most) film fans are human. We respond to immediate gratification. In the same way a person on a diet might slip up in a moment of weakness and eat a slice of chocolate cake, sometimes film fans find it very difficult to look away.
If leaks didn't happen, the temptation wouldn't be there. Ten or twenty years ago, film fans had nothing to go on but carefully controlled press releases. And if there were leaks, very few people actually knew about them, and their credibility remained dubious.
The point is, being a movie fan in 2016 doesn't just mean you have to try and avoid leaks, it means you've actively got to resist the temptation to look at them (and deal with the post-leak guilt and fear that you've ruined the film for yourself if you do).
