10 Worst Things About Being A Movie Fan In 2016

7. If You Don't Care For Superheroes, You're Gonna Have A Bad Time

What sort of deal did Kevin Feige make with the devil to enable him to build a genuine Marvel Cinematic Universe empire? Seriously, for years people have been talking about the inevitable popping of the superhero bubble, but it shows absolutely no sign of bursting. As of right now we're approaching two dozen entries in the MCU, with another three films planned for release in 2017.

Then there's DC's attempt at building a cinematic universe, with almost ten films in the pipeline over the next three to four years. Oh, and that's not counting Fox's X-Men or Deadpool plans. Nor any standalone adaptations like The Lego Batman Movie.

Being a movie fan in 2016 means that if you're not particularly interested in superhero films, you're practically a pariah. So much of modern, mainstream film culture is dominated by hyping up the latest superhero releases, speculating on what will come next, immersing yourself in every movie and every theory in order to piece together the larger story.

Sometimes it's tough not to wonder whether or not there's something wrong, some reason why you just don't "get" it. And that can really suck.
