10 Worst Things James Bond Has Ever Done

2. Not Taking 'No' For An Answer

Part of the package of gadgets, guns, martinis and scenery-chewing baddies is, of course, the ladies, and 007's cavalier attitude towards women is the stuff of legend, or nightmares. There's simply no denying it, no matter how much we love the character:

James Bond has a long and colourful history of sexual deviancy.

Throughout his career he has not been known to kick anyone out of bed or, for that matter, take rejection lightly. But forcing himself on Pussy Galore (Honor Blackman) in Goldfinger (1964) has to be a low point even for him.

This is all the more perplexing as the plot of the film - or at least the success of the good guys - actually hinges on Pussy Galore's cooperation. Classic baddie Auric Goldfinger (Gert Fröbe) seeks to raid Fort Knox by having Galore's squad of female pilots release deadly Delta 9 gas over the compound, killing all below, and it is Galore who warns the authorities and replaces the canisters with a non-fatal compound.

Initially his captor, and later his willing lover, there is the awkward middle section in which Bond fails to woo her with words and advances, before quite literally forcing himself on her until she acquiesces.

This makes for uncomfortable viewing, especially two thirds of the way into what is generally considered to be a certified classic, fit for all the family. And it is made all the worse by the accompanying, and seriously misjudged, romantic score.
