10 Worst Things Superman Has Ever Done In The Films

5. Not Saving Jonathan Kent

Heading into the murky waters of Zack Snyder's DC films here, which are divisive to say the least.

When Clark was a boy and questioning himself on his own abilities, as well as his place in the world, the man who raised him and taught him the value of his power - Jonathan Kent - was killed in a hurricane after getting trapped in the car rescuing the dog.

Whilst Clark makes a move to go after Jonathan, Jonathan shakes his head, thereby telling Clark to let him go.

Now, the scene is supposed to cement in Clark that Jonathan and Martha Kent are always going to be his parents and that the world was not ready for Clark to make himself known.

However, Justice League, Man Of Steel, and Batman vs. Superman make it very clear that Kryptonians can run very quickly - so quickly in fact that it is invisible to the human eye. Kal-El might take his time in learning how to fly, but surely he knew how to run by the age of 19?

This makes Jonathan Kent's sacrifice all the more pointless. It is clear that Clark could have saved him, and been able to do so without actually being seen by the other people - yet it doesn't happen, and Jonathan dies purely to drive the plot. The distillation of the scene is that Clark literally leaves his father for dead when he could have saved him.

This is where 1978's Superman made much more sense in Jonathan Kent having a heart attack.
