10 Worst Things The Joker Has Ever Done On-Screen

8. Murdering Murray Franklin On Live Television - Joker

Arthur's tumble into insanity is well under way by the time he appears on his hero's talk show. Decked out in a red suit and clown make-up, Arthur is initially amazed to be on the Murray Franklin show. Sadly for everyone involved, the delight turns to fright when Joker whips out his model 36 and guarantees there'll never be another episode of Gotham's hit talk show.

As if the homicide itself weren't disquieting enough, the glee on Joker's face in the aftermath reveals the pride he's taken in blowing the host away. Caught on live TV, Joker's actions snowball the growing unrest in Gotham. A night of rioting and violent crime ensues, and the Waynes are among the many victims of the chaos, gunned down in an alley way (for the billionth time no less).

Arthur's cringeworthy attempt at stand-up had managed to score him a gig with his hero. To anyone else, it was painfully obvious that Arthur was called in so Murray and co. could have a good laugh at his expense. For the man himself, it only dawns on him when Murray rudely introduces him. Initially planning a suicide, Arthur turns his rage on everyone else instead, causing tragedy that will haunt Gotham for decades to come.
