10 Worst Threequels Of All Time

4. Superman III

Warner Bros.

Even for those who love superhero movies, Superman III is the unquestionable low point of the genre. It's clear that the makes of Superman III didn't understand the unwritten rule that a hero is only as good as his villain, because the villains here are legendary stand-up comic and occasional serious actor, Richard Pryor and The Man From U.N.C.L.E Robert Vaughn.

The film is daft, laughable rubbish, complete with wind-up penguins and hammy acting that wouldn't be out of place in your local pantomime. Superhero films will always have an element of daftness in them, because it's in their very aesthetic, but Superman III is so bad it could be mistaken for self-parody. The film actually features Richard Pryor skiing with a pink cape tied around his neck. And the makers wanted to take an edgier angle!

Terrible villains, abysmal casting, poor special effects and an atrocious script all amounted to one of the worst movies of all time.
