10 Worst Ways Marvel Studios Wasted Great Actors

4. Christopher Eccleston Is A Generic Bad Guy (Thor: The Dark World)

Thor: The Dark World may have been Marvel€™s worst movie to date and one of the main reasons why was its completely forgettable villain. Daniel Day-Lewis could have played Malekith and the character still would have sucked, which is astounding considering how menacing his design was and how powerful his backstory could have been. Eccleston just had nothing to work with. The character got very little screentime, almost no dialogue in English and virtually no development. He got the short end of the stick and Marvel absolutely wasted him in the role that a stuntman could have performed. The Doctor Who standout deserved better and became just another actor in a long line who had wasted on a Marvel villain. Of note is that Mads Mikkelsen almost played this role but dropped out because of scheduling conflicts. It€™s likely a similar fate would have befallen him so hopefully he€™ll get the chance to shine in Doctor Strange that Eccleston was never afforded.
