10 WTF Moments In Robert Eggers The Northman

3. The Berserk Berserker Thing

The Northman

The apocalypse feel to this scene is intense, and the fact that it was all done in one take and on film makes it so much more impressive. Amleth and his fellow trained killers can be seen pillaging a village and killing the people inhabiting it by biting into their flesh and ripping them apart. The prequel scene to this bloodshed is the viewers' first glimpse of the man or beast, Amleth has grown into.

Amleth and his fellow berserkers approach the village walls with their wolf skins over their heads and climb the walls designed to keep them out as if they are nothing. This impressive scene from SkarsgÄrd was filmed in one take and showed off just how ripped he became for the movie.

The mass slaughter is a lot to take in, and a lot of the time, you'll be sitting there wondering why he has become this beast who kills fathers, leaving the children to fend for themselves and try to protect their mothers. Is it starting to sound familiar? This slaughter is what triggers the visit from The Seeress, but you still have to wonder how he could forget about what he went through and then do the same thing to others. But it could just be down to pent up anger and fury from his past.
