10 WTF Moments That Made You Give Up On A Movie

5. Cabin In The Woods - The Absurd Ending

The Cabin In The Woods Ending
Lionsgate

One of the more interesting horror movie we have ever been presented with, Cabin in the Woods is a witty deconstruction of the horror genre that satirises our obsession with violence and gore. It is one of the best horror movies ever made until the last 2 minutes.

The control room creating a real life horror movie naturally leads towards a grand revelation that the facility was used to create the horror movies that society consumes, indulging the theme of society’s obsession with violence. But instead Sigourney Weaver appears in the last minute to explain it is about appeasing dark gods, and by failing to do so the world ends rather abruptly.

Rather than a satisfying conclusion to a brilliantly constructed critique of the horror genre, the audience is left wondering whether Joss Whedon simply could not figure out an ending to his tale and chose one at random from a hat.
