10 X-Men Characters The Movies Totally Wasted
If only they had a mutant power for character development.
The long-running X-Men series has remained one of the most consistently popular franchises in Hollywood and after fifteen years of movies including sequels, prequels, reboots and spin-offs the merry band of mutants show no signs of slowing down; last year's Days of Future past marked both a critical and commercial high point for the franchise with almost $750m at the box office and a current Rotten Tomatoes rating of 91%. However, as you would expect from a franchise that spans seven movies, features dozens of characters and includes a hugely convoluted timeline that spans decades; there are a number of mutants that have been short-changed on the big screen. While Hugh Jackman's Wolverine quickly became one of popular culture's biggest icons and Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Ian McKellen and Michael Fassbender have done great work as Professor Xavier and Magneto respectively, not every character is fortunate enough to receive the same treatment. With that in mind, this article will look at ten characters from the comic books that have so far been wasted on the big screen. Whether they be reduced to extended cameos, drastically altered from the source material or largely ignored and overlooked by the filmmakers, these ten well-known mutants have yet to truly leave their mark on the franchise.
