One of the X-Men's most dangerous and formidable foes, Juggernaut has been a constant thorn in the side of the mutant team for almost 50 years. When the character finally appeared on the big-screen in Brett Ratner's The Last Stand, instead of an unstoppable force of nature we were given a wisecracking Vinnie Jones wearing ridiculous-looking prosthetics. The tone for the character was immediately set when one of his first lines of dialogue turned out to be 'I need to pee', although that pales in comparison to the now-legendary 'I'm the Juggernaut, b*tch!'. While there are several scenes that make good use of Juggernaut's unparalleled strength and penchant for violence, Jones delivers a few cringe-worthy one-liners and the character also turns out to be an idiot by knocking himself unconscious by running headfirst into a wall, in what turned out to be one of his final contributions to the movie. Juggernaut has almost unlimited potential when it comes to being a vicious and intimidating big-screen villain, but The Last Stand completely wasted the character. Casting an incredibly limited and one-dimensional actor like Vinnie Jones doesn't make for a memorable bad guy, and the distracting and unintentionally hilarious make-up effects definitely didn't help matters either.
I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
