2. The Morlocks
The Mutant Massacre is unlikely to crop up in Tatum's first Gambit film, which is a shame as it would provide a dark canvas to paint a franchise on. The Morlocks do deserve a better shot at the screen than Brett Ratner gave them in X-Men: The Last Stand though, where they were simply just there for Magneto to recruit. The Morlocks are a completely different mutant subculture, and one that deserves to be shown in better detail to help flesh out that world. One of the most recognisable Morlocks, Caliban, is already confirmed to appear in X-Men: Apocalypse, but Gambit could provide a greater chance to explore their ways and customs. Going underground would be totally in keeping with the heist movie nature of the film, and once that link is made it could lead onto bigger things.
