Now I know I've banged on a fair bit about the Mutant Massacre, but I've also acknowledged that it woulnd't have to necessarily be shown on screen in Gambit's debut. The fact is though that it's a huge defining moment for the character, a choice so awful that he hides it from the X-Men for years whilst seeking salvation, and it would be a travesty not to add such strong layers to the character with a powerful story arc at some point. Introducing Sinister would be an excellent starting point, especially if he was to framed as a protagonist that would haunt Gambit across multiple films. Sinister wouldn't even have to appear on screen properly, rather Fox could adopt the tease model that Marvel has used to make Thanos the looming threat of the MCU. Sinister is a big part of the X-Men universe and so it's pretty surprising he hasn't been seen before now. Gambit could offer the perfect platform to introduce the next big bad to proceedings after Apocalypse is thwarted, whether that includes the Mutant Massacre or not.
