10 X-Men Movie Concept Designs Better Than What We Got
1. Early Deadpool (X-Men Origins: Wolverine)
One of X-Men Origins: Wolverine's most heinous crimes was its handling of Deadpool. How was the Merc With a Mouth supposed to break the fourth wall with his gob sewn shut?
The Wolverine prequel introduced the anti-hero in pre-Deadpool mode, depicting him as a member of Stryker’s task force, and later transformed him into a weird amalgamation of various X-Men, none of which were Wade Wilson.
Early concept art from the movie reveals a slight improvement on the version of the character which featured in these early scenes. Before his facial disfiguration, this incarnation would have sported a red hood and black facepaint, foreshadowing his transformation.
Ryan Reynolds went on to become the definitive Deadpool in his 2016 solo outing, and while this concept design is a million miles from that, it would have been an improvement on the travesty that appeared in Wolverine.
