10 Zombie Movie Horror Fates Worse Than Death

6. The Bubbling Brain - Diary Of The Dead

This one is sort of a two-hander, for it was clearly horrendous for the (undead) sort to whom it happened, but likewise it was disgusting for those watching to witness.

From the legendary George A. Romero, Diary of the Dead is yet another cracking zombie effort from the man who helped popularise the notion of zombies in the first place. And with so many zombie pictures already under his hat by that point in time, it was great to see Romero still coming up with fresh new ways to torment those characters featured in his films.

One of the more notable moments in Diary of the Dead - or in any of Romero's movies, to be fair - is when a group of the picture's characters got to see a skull melted away by some well-placed acid.

With a zombie stalking him down, Shawn Roberts' Tony reaches out and grabs a jar that he swiftly smashes over his foe's head. It's then that we realise that the content of this jar is actually acid, and the shuffling figure continues on his plodding path as his skull melts away and his brain becomes visible.

The guy's already undead, and now his life is even worse.
