10 Zombie Movies That Put A Unique Spin On The Horror Genre

4. The Dead Don't Die

By the time The Dead Don't Die came around, the idea of comedy horror wasn't brand new, but there was still some space in the growing collection of movies that take a lighter approach to the end of days.

The Dead Don't Die takes on a slightly meta approach, filled with sly digs towards horror cliches and the current state of humanity itself. Jim Jarmusch delivers a statement about the state of the world today, thinly veiled under the guise of a zombie flick. It's an experiment in filmmaking that definitely requires an open-minded approach.

The comedy never quite reaches the heights of Zombieland or Shaun of the Dead, and the horror elements won't evoke terror in audiences, but the chemistry between Adam Driver and Bill Murray is an unexpectedly pleasant surprise and the pair's oddball, dry humour fits the tone perfectly.

Those looking for a classic zombie disaster film will probably be disappointed, but for those who are aware how saturated the genre is and are looking for a satirical take on it, may find exactly what they are looking for.
