9. Wonder Woman
Woman Woman. An Amazonian warrior. A core member of the Justice League. A character thats remained popular in the world of DC Comics for years. So why is it that film and TV cant quite get her off the ground? Many would argue its her golden bikini costume. Many would blame it on her campy history and her girly appeal. All of those not excited about a potential Wonder Woman movie because of those reasons are frankly idiots in my eyes. Thats probably a bit harsh on my part but writing off a character who, when handled respectfully is as strong as Superman or Batman are just not seeing her potential (and her wearing a gold bikini is no sillier than a man dressed as a bat). Ive said it before in my article about
the upcoming Justice League movie but I really feel she should be handled like the Hulk was handled in the Avengers movie. Have her arrive in style, kicking unholy amounts of ass, standing up against the likes of Superman and Batman and making her the surprise element of the Justice League team is the way forward. We dont need to know her origin story up front, the question should never be raised about why she wears the costume, she just does. She should just be a fully established Amazonian warrior and when the crowd love her, its then we are served up the origin story. The best example of Wonder Woman on screen is within the Justice League Animated Series (as well as the recent stand alone feature length animated adventure). Shes strong, theres a real sense of her power whenever she enters the room and she tussles with the bad guys like the best of them. Even with all that punching shes still feminine and very much a strong female role model. Wonder Woman could be presented as the ultimate female Superhero (as she should be) and not just a girl in a team filled with guys. Wonder Woman deserves to be celebrated for what she is, not what film studios think she should be and the sooner Hollywood crack onto that idea the sooner well get a great Wonder Woman movie.
How Close Is It To Being Made: Everything is balanced on the shoulders of the Man of Steel movie (which looks stunning by the way). Given the success it could have, were bound to see either DC hero movies or a Justice League flick and either way Wonder Woman has to be on the top of the To Do list.
Casting Choices: I look at every actress with the idea of Could she play Wonder Woman? and Ive been doing it for years. Jennifer Connolly, Angina Jolie, Lynne Collin, Kate Beckinsale. Everyone gets considered. On the top of my list at the moment is Taylor Cole.
Ever since I first saw her in an episode of Supernatural, I was convinced this girl was the right choice and I watched all of the TV show The Event just to be sure I was right. Taylor Cole is currently my number one choice for Wonder Woman. Her face is perfect for the role and given the limited performances Ive seen her in, Im sure she could do the princess justice.
