8. Brandon Routh - Silver Surfer
Having enjoyed an explosion in profile after being cast in Superman Returns, Routh was unfortunately and unfairly cast aside entirely by Hollywood thanks to that film's dismal reception. But Routh is not a bad actor, and it was not his influence that derailed the wayward Man Of Steel fore-runner, even if he was rather unfortunately cast as the most popular scapegoat. In short, the actor deserves a second chance, and while the Silver Surfer wouldn't exactly provide an opportunity to boost his profile (given that he'd be CGIed heavily) he could manage a similar boost to have Billy Crudup achieved with his Dr Manhattan performance. Routh proved in Scott Pilgrim that he can play less emotive characters without compromising on presence, and he has the physique to translate to the Surfer, who would play a key role in the Infinity Gauntlet story arc that is clearly being set up for a future Avengers movie.
