10. Matthew McConaughey Saves Seizure Victim With Mouth-To-Mouth Resuscitation
The 2001 Toronto Film Festival was the location for Mathew McConaughey's real-life rescue, which took place during the screening of his film Thirteen Conversations About One Thing. And it was definitely only one thing everyone was talking about afterwards. At first the audience at Roy Thomson Hall thought cries for a doctor were part of a stunt, but when they saw a woman had collapsed on the floor the house lights went up. Janice Flisfeder had apparently suffered a seizure and wasn't breathing when McConaughey stepped-up to perform mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. She later told journalists: "I felt a man stroking my hair and kissing my forehead saying, 'It's OK, sweetheart,' and realized it wasn't my husband. When I opened my eyes and looked back to him I just thought, 'Nah can't be.'" Toronto police said that McConaughey's actions saved Janice's life but the Oscar winning Texan played down his role by saying: "It was no big deal, she needed help and I was there."
