11 Actors Who've Performed Real-Life Rescues

7. Cuba Gooding Jr Demands Towels To Save Dying Man

If you heard gunshots, what would you do? Cower, run away or run towards the victim even though you didn't know if the shooter would re-appear to finish him off? For Cuba Gooding Jr it wasn't a hypothetical question. The Jerry Maguire Oscar winner was waiting to pick up family dinner outside Roscoe's House of Chicken 'n' Waffles on Memorial Day 2007 when he heard a gun being fired four times. Then he saw a 'young kid', thought to be about 20, who was clearly injured and holding his head. As the Men of Honour star got out of his car to try to help he saw the man collapse, bleeding profusely from the neck. Cuba ran to his side and held him as he called for towels from the Hollywood restaurant to stem the blood. Staff tried to fob him off with the paper variety so he had to demand they show him the real ones. Cuba flagged down a police car but stayed on the scene until paramedics arrived to take the victim to hospital, where he later made a full recovery.
