11 Awful Opening Scenes In Otherwise Awesome Movies

7. The Most Boring Credits Sequence Of All Time - Speed

The Movie: Jan de Bont's spectacular action film is an all-timer, famous for its ridiculous premise, intense, sustained action sequences, over-the-top Dennis Hopper performance, and of course, for giving Sandra Bullock the biggest and most memorable role of her career up to that point.

The Scene: Nobody expects credits sequences to be the most thrilling scene-setters, so this one's a bit of a cheat, but Speed's is memorably bad enough that it unapologetically earns a place on this list. The first three minutes of the movie reels off the cast and crew as the camera travels down a very long elevator shaft.

Why It Sucks: For one, it's just so damn boring. The only excitement in this introductory sequence is when the camera briefly stops for the movie's title to appear. Sure, Mark Mancina's score is plenty intense, yet even that can't liven up the tedium of watching the same repetitious sequence drag on for so long without variation, and the cheesy Word Art-style text certainly doesn't help either. Save 200 seconds of your life and skip right through this one, because the rest of the movie is an absolute doozy.
