11 Best New Horror Movies For Halloween 2021
6. The Night House
This may be a title you heard about as early as a couple of years ago, and as it did get its premiere in early 2020 some would say it’s not ‘new’ enough to be on this list - however, it only made it to theatrical release in mid 2021 so I say step off.
It follows Beth, a widow who has recently lost her husband to suicide, as she tries to make sense of some strange supernatural happenings. After finding pictures of her late husband with various women (all of whom look weirdly similar to herself), Beth worries that he was having an affair. Unfortunately, she’s about to uncover something much worse.
It’s an interesting take on the age-old haunted house gimmick, integrating horror tropes from across subgenres and delivering an emotional punch all the same.
To give you a bit of a two in one for this entry, director David Bruckner has been a busy lad: following The Night House he also produced a new horror for Netflix titled No One Gets Out Alive which is also worth a look.
