11 Bizarre Movie Accidents That Somehow Weren’t Cut
6. The Jitterbug - The Wizard Of Oz
It turns out that one of the most iconic, haunting shots in The Wizard Of Oz has always had a mistake left in plain sight that people seem to barely even notice.
When the Wicked Witch is instructing her flying monkeys to go and attack Dorothy and her new friends - the whole iconic "fly my pretties" scene - she says a blatant lie:
"They'll give you no trouble, I promise you that. I've sent a little insect on ahead to take the fight out of them."
Only, she hadn't had she? She'd done nothing in advance of the monkey air assault, because the line that was illogically left in referred to a deleted scene introducing the Jitterbug, which she sends to sting the main characters, who are then infected by the irresistible compulsion to dance.
