All hail the one and only Goblin King!

Meet The Feebles and Little Shop Of Horrors aren’t the only outrageous cult musicals to feature puppets, with Jim Henson’s Labyrinth being one of the most cherished films of the 80s

When teenager Sarah (Jenifer Connelly) wishes that her infant brother was taken away by the Goblin King (music legend David Bowie), she discovers that her wish has come true. To rescue her brother, she must navigate a fantastical maze-like world to reach the King’s castle before time runs out.

There’s not much else to say about Labyrinth that hasn’t already been said before. It’s a grand adventure full of strange and surreal imagination. Brought to life by the puppet wizardry of Henson and his team, it’s not hard to see how this film continues to capture the imaginations of audiences over 30 years after its release.

And then there’s Bowie himself. A charismatic screen presence with hair that could only exist in the 80s, he steals every frame he’s in. Not to mention the handful of tracks he penned for the film himself. We’re still dancing that magic dance all these years later.
