7. Ilsa - Ilsa: She Wolf Of The SS (1975)
The statuesque Ilsa (played by Dyanne Thorne) runs a medical camp in Nazi Germany which she rules with a fist of steel. She has a theory that women have higher pain thresholds than men and that women should be fighting alongside men. She uses terrible acts of torture against the women in the camp to prove her theories. Ilsa is also afflicted with not just an evil disposition, but also with extreme nymphomania. She takes the men in the camp to bed with her and inevitably they fail to satisfy her so she castrates and kills them for the mere sin of premature ejaculation! Eventually she meets an American POW who can go the distance, but she is unaware of an uprising looming in the camp.. No list of fictional Nazis would be complete without the antics of Ilsa, a woman, according to the film who is so 'ruthless' even the SS are scared of her. Ilsa: She Wolf of the SS is not just an exploitation movie with the twist of an evil female protagonist. Real women took place in the Holocaust and their names live on in infamy - Ilse Koch, Irma Grese. Their war crimes may not have been as sensational as Ilsa's but both women participated fully in the Holocaust and were hanged for their crimes. Ilsa is a rather cartoonish villain - she is so evil. But it is a timely reminder that women too can take part in war crimes and act every bit as morally bankrupt as men.
