3. Doom - First-Person Shooting

Spectre Day Of The Dead
Universal

Video game movies have had a rough run sinceā€¦ okay, they've always had it tough. 2005's Doom was no different. Despite the star-studded cast of Karl Urban, Dwanye "The Rock" Johnson, and Rosamund Pike, the film didn't quite capture the action-packed fun that could be had in the original games. Instead, it opted for a more horror-centric retelling, akin to Doom 3.

After watching the cast idly stalk through dark, empty corridors for an hour, the pace suddenly picks up as the audience are put into the head of Karl Urban as he blasts his way through a multitude of demons.

It is a bold move, but one that definitely paid off, as Urban stalks Mars' eerie research facility, mowing down iconic Doom enemies and zombies alike. It's a shame that they didn't go one step further, like 2015's Hardcore Henry, and shoot the whole film like this.

Campy? Yes. Entertaining? Most definitely.
