Living in constant fear is something that many people around the world have experienced. From bizarre phobias to more rational fears, it's safe to say that most of the population will do their best to avoid putting themselves in danger of a fright - apart from those who enjoy horror movies, obviously.

Living in fear when you can command the power of magic shouldn't really be a thing. No matter the danger, there's probably a spell for that but what witches and wizards can't escape is a Boggart - really, they can't.

Remus Lupin teaches his 3rd year class that a Boggart's ability to take the shape of their greatest fear can be nullified using the Riddikulus charm but at no point does he confirm that it is a permanent means of defeating the creature in the cupboard.

So, with this in mind, if a Boggart were to get into your house then there really isn't much you can do about it. The Order of the Phoenix implies Boggarts can be removed as the one terrorising Grimmauld Place is due to be dealt with but we never find out how nor if the Order were successful in their efforts.

Just imagine living with a Poltergeist or Jigsaw... or a weird blend of the two and you're about there.
