11 Huge Issues That Might Ruin The DC Cinematic Universe

5. The Aquaman Problem

Of all the weird and wonderful characters to be introduced to cinematic audiences in the coming years, probably the most challenging for either Marvel or Warner will be Aquaman. While the Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant-Man are one thing, they at least have an inherent charm on their side (and have their feet placed firmly in self-deprecatory comedy), whereas even many hardcore comic book fans largely dismiss Aquaman as a lame character whose water-based antics just aren't that interesting. As such, inserting Aquaman into the equation is simply throwing in another troublesome question mark. If comic fans hate the character, what chance do regular viewers have? Even though the vitriol towards the character might be a little unfair and may not have been helped by an infamous Family Guy skit, that won't stop Aquaman from being a tough sell. Introducing him in two other films before giving him his own standalone flick is certainly a good idea, though if the reception to the character is initially poor, it's going to be pretty embarrassing for Warner to proceed with an Aquaman film regardless.
