11 Massive Questions For 2015's Biggest Remaining Films

3. Who's Baiting The Academy More: Redmayne, Mulligan Or Streep?

With Oscar season approaching, it's getting to the point where all sorts of words like "worthy" and "weighty" and "auteur" start being used a lot more in normal movie criticism. It's also when movies about Real People start coming out with greater frequency - and not just biopics. This season, most talk will probably centre on Eddie Redmayne, who is making a legitimately important movie in The Danish Girl and Carey Mulligan's The Suffragette. They're the Theory Of Everything and The Imitation Game of this year, and while they're probably worthy of their inevitable accolades But will any of them actually win? Best Guess Answer Redmayne will win, but the race for the female acting gong should be a very close run thing. To be fair to her, Streep's role doesn't appear to be quite so baiting as some of her others in the past, but Mulligans definitely looks like it's being released as an Oscar contender consciously. In the end, Cate Blanchett could well be the strongest possibility to win, pipping Streep, Mulligan, Brie Larson, Saoirse Ronan and Jennifer Lawrence (because the Academy can't let a David O Russell film pass without nominating her). Which is all a travesty, because obviously Charlize Theron deserves to win for Mad Max: Fury Road.
