1. Is Darth Vader Coming Back?
The Force Awakens might be something entirely new, with new talent, new owners and new creative direction, but it is entirely married to the past. It is an exercise in living history, an artefact that will grow for (hopefully decades) without ever deviating too far away from the original three movies. And there are already some pretty big teases that the new trilogy is going to unveil some fan favourite elements from the original films that haven't yet been unveiled. The biggest question, looming large over everything in the film no matter how deflected we've been, is how Darth Vader will factor into that. Is he somehow alive? Can he be reborn? Or will Kylo Ren simply be channelling him in a super creepy way? Best Guess Answer He probably won't be back yet, but there's something irresistibly leading in that opening voice-over from the first, exceptional trailer. "The Force is strong in my family My father has it. I have it..." HAS it. Not had it. In terms of publicity wins, the new trilogy would do well to bring Darth Vader back. In terms of nostalgic appeal alone - which is already being played to massively - Vader would rank alongside Boba Fett and Yoda as the most bankable stars in the franchise. Not offering some sort of fan-service with all three of them in the new series (and not just in the Anthology films) would be a huge mistake, so it can surely only be a matter of time.
