11 Most Disgusting Movie Creatures Of All Time
1. Brundlefly - The Fly
David Cronenberg is too cerebral to just make a simple creature feature, so when he was hired to direct The Fly he made sure to implant some of his own ideas in there.
He essentially made an allegory for life-threatening illnesses (specifically the AIDs pandemic), where a woman has to look after her lover when he’s stricken with an incurable, body rotting disease. The movie is a wrenching watch, where hunky Jeff Goldblum has to watch as bits of himself fall off. His teeth, fingernails, ears and other vitals pieces drop away, and the only way he can eat is to vomit all over his food and suck it up.
Cronenberg never shies away from the ugliness or sadness of it, and in his final form Brundlefly's pus covered and grotesquely swollen before the actual monster within bursts out. The Fly is the director’s crowning achievement within the body horror genre, and I'm not even sure I’d like to see him try to top it.
