The most recent major casting furore is unquestionably the shock announcement that Kristen Stewart has been cast to play Princess Diana in the upcoming drama "Spencer," which will focus on a weekend in the early 1990s when Diana decided to split from Prince Charles.

Naturally, online reaction to the casting choice was "divisive" to say the least, with K-Stew's usual band of haters coming out of the woodwork to criticise her apparent lack of charisma, while more reasonable concerns about Stewart's ability to nail the necessary English accent also came to the surface.

Looks-wise, Stewart can probably bear a decent enough resemblance to the late Princess with a solid makeup job, yet even with acclaimed filmmaker Pablo LarraĆn (Jackie) at the helm, given how 2013's Naomi Watts-led Diana biopic turned out, it's reasonable to be at least a tad skeptical.

Stewart's blossomed into a terrific, risk-taking actress in her post-Twilight career, but Diana is so far removed from who she appears to be that it'll require plenty of hard graft on her part to win the doubters over.
