11 Movie Cliffhangers That Were Ignored In The Sequel

3. The MCU Forgot About The Leader After The Incredible Hulk

For a long time The Incredible Hulk has been treated like the red-headed stepchild of the MCU, where the movies didn€™t flat out ignore it but would rather everyone forget it happened. Marvel€™s messy falling out with Edward Norton probably played a part in that, and most of the film€™s events €“ like The Abomination and Samuel Sterns turning into The Leader €“ have been quietly swept under the rug. Sterns was no doubt going to be a big part of whatever sequel Marvel had planned, but the lukewarm reception and the Norton situation meant they weren€™t keen to rush back for more solo Hulk adventures. The reappearance of William Hurt as General Ross in Civil War make it feel like they€™re finally ready to embrace The Incredible Hulk though. Maybe future movies will reintroduce Betty Ross, and Tim Blake Nelson will finally be able to don a giant head prosthetic to bring The Leader to life; even if he doesn€™t return the MCU is big on continuity, so at least the character's origin story from The Incredible Hulk should remain intact.
