11 Movie Franchises We Wish Weren’t Dead

8. Blade

The Dark Knight Trilogy
New Line Cinema / Marvel

Blade - the movie that arguably kicked into gear the comic-book superhero trend - is Wesley Snipes’s crowning achievement, and the series itself (minus the ill-fated Trinity) is the pinnacle of the vampire hybrid genre.

Ever since we first saw Snipes’s natural-born Daywalker kick vampire butt, fans knew it was something special. The innovative fight choreography and gilt-edged premise were immediately irresistible, and there's more than enough goodwill for them to continue.

2006 tried remounting the Marvel character in the form of a hopeless TV series, but now that vampires have reclaimed a spot in the mainstream, and Snipes is back in the game, the idea of Blade 4 feels right.

Could There Be A Comeback?

Wesley Snipes is ready and very pro-active in his pursuit of this happening, but whether or not Marvel shares his enthusiasm is yet to be seen. He has spoken a lot about the possibility, and with Marvel reclaiming the rights, you'd have to suspect something will come.

The film series may be dead, but it’s not yet buried and if we can’t have Snipes in Blade 4, perhaps we can have the character on the small screen as part of Marvel’s Netflix adventure?
