11 Movies Which Got Geography Completely Wrong

7. The Blues Brothers

Elwood: It€™s 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it€™s dark € and we€™re wearing sunglasses. Jake: Hit it.
Jake and Elwood Blues have just managed to acquire the $5,000 they need to rescue the orphanage they were raised in from the tax assessor. However, Jake is wanted for violating his parole, and Elwood for his 114 unpaid parking tickets and 56 moving violations. They€™ve got to get through the police gauntlet and have the money at the Cook County Assessor€™s office when it opens the next morning. Never mind that the location for the concert, Lake Wazzapamani, doesn€™t appear to exist. The concert was actually filmed at the Hollywood Palladium, and the exteriors were filmed at Chicago€™s South Shore Country Club.
While earlier examples on this list expected travel to be too quick, this one is too slow. Even given their lateness, the Blues Brothers left the show during the second song. That means it was probably between 10 p.m. to midnight. At the speeds they were leading the Illinois State Police on the interstates, it€™s improbable that they were able to last that long on the road and not make it to Chicago at 3 a.m. instead of dawn. Even if they chased around the city limits until it was closer to opening time for the tax office, they would have run out of gas long before then.
