It's A Sequel To...Speed 2: Cruise Control (1997)
Speed 2 clings to what is just about the most horribly contrived sequel premise in the history of cinematic endeavour, one so ludicrous that it marked the death of the franchise at large - how many times can you make a movie out of the same "vehicle wired to explode" idea, anyway? The world breathed a huge sigh of relief when they realised that there weren't gonna be anymore
Speed flicks, because the insanity years were over, although back in 2007 - before his death - Dennis Hopper briefly mentioned something that shook the Earth to its core. Well, not really - nobody seemed that bothered about it, to be honest, 'cause Dennis Hopper says a lot of stuff. Still, the fact that he mentioned it means that - somehow, somewhere - some Hollywood bigshots were sitting in a office discussing the possibility of
Speed 3, and had already involved Dennis Hopper, who played villain Howard Payne in the original flick. Who got decapitated at the end. Hopper passed away in 2010, of course, so this plot is outta the window now.... but how in God's name did they intend to resurrect his character anyway?
