11 Perfect Casting Choices That Made Comic Book Movies
9. Michael Keaton As Batman
Michael Keaton was the best Batman from the initial series of films in the late 1980s and 1990s - and undoubtedly the reason that the less popular Val Kilmer and George Clooney got their chance to shine in the role later on. As a regular Tim Burton collaborator, Keaton signed up for the role under the surreal director and didn't immediately stand out as the ideal man to portray Bruce Wayne and his vigilante alter-ego - but it worked brilliantly. Keaton drew the audience in to the character's psychology, portraying the successful but troubled businessman Bruce Wayne with genuine emotion and conveying the dark and determine nature of Batman with equal success. Since the 1989 introduction of Keaton as Batman in "Batman", comic book movies have been a relatively ongoing thing. It could be said that he is one of the reasons that the current comic book movie genre is so successful - and he was definitely pivotal to the success of his movies and probably partly responsible for the poor reception Kilmer and Clooney got. Keaton just gave too good a performance to live up to so soon after his films.
