When news got out that Steven Spielberg would be directing a movie based on the real-life conman, Frank Abagnale, the real Abagnale was over the moon, even more so when he found out the world's most handsome man, Leonardo DiCaprio was to play him.

In fact, after its release, Abagnale openly praised the movie and applauded DiCaprio's acting skills. He also seemed satisfied with some of the made-up storylines that helped the movie run more smoothly, such as the relationship that he had with his father. However, as months passed, so did Abagnale's opinion which resulted in him criticizing the movie whenever he could.

Suddenly, Abagnale began accusing producers and writers of glamorizing his criminal past and using it to make money. Abagnale also claimed that he was deeply ashamed of his actions and was doing his very best to get back on track and pretend it had never happened.

To this day Abagnale states that he isn't proud of the things that he did and wishes to focus on other things rather than concentrating on what got him famous in the first place.
