11 Reasons The Haters Are Wrong For Batman V Superman

9. It Doesn't Need To Be Funny

What The Haters Think: "Why does the movie look so serious? It's going to be relentlessly somber and not at all fun, which is what Superman in particular should be, given that he's always been aimed at kids. DC need to follow the Marvel formula of injecting humour into the drama." Why They're Wrong: Though it's tough to argue with the success of Marvel's lighter touch, Christopher Nolan's Batman movies have proven that grimdark can be a license to print money too, it just depends on the script. The downcast nature of Man of Steel certainly didn't stop it being a financial success. The point here is that not everything needs the veil of humour to succeed: if the script is strong enough, then the seriousness will sell itself. Plus, this is Batman fighting Superman following the fallout of Man of Steel, where presumably a ton of people died: a dark tone completely suits the material. Just because it might not be the sort of Superman movie you saw as a kid does not immediately make it bad. Give it a chance.
