8. Jesse Eisenberg Is An Expert At Playing An A**hole

What The Haters Think: "Jesse Eisenberg's casting as Lex Luthor is a huge mistake because he doesn't have the imposing presence needed to be a substantial villain." Why They're Wrong: Pretty much nobody could have predicted Eisenberg's casting as Luthor, though it signals the movie's attempt to move away from the more conventional cinematic depictions of the character, which by now feel overdone and samey. Another kooky A-lister chewing the scenery would've been pretty boring. But it's important to remember that Eisenberg is great at playing douchebags, and even received an Oscar nomination for playing one in The Social Network. Given that his Luthor is reportedly rather Mark Zuckerberg-esque, a ferociously intelligent young upstart (but also tough to boot) he shouldn't have any problem delivering one of the more interesting and unique interpretations of the character to date.
