11 Scariest Final Shots In Thriller Movie History

2. Gone Girl

Easily one of the best thrillers of the 2010s, Gone Girl bets everything on subverting the audience's understanding of the classic kidnapping/murder mystery story, by revealing halfway through that the supposed victim, Amy Dunne, isn't just alive and well, but has planned everything meticulously to frame her husband Nick and drag his character through the mud.

He finds this out, but like in The Gift, there's no way he can prove it. After all, weeks of media coverage has painted her as the innocent housewife who went missing and him as the bumbling, potentially abusive husband.

The final, final twist reveals that Amy has impregnated herself with Nick's sperm, which manipulates him into staying with her and playing the part of the man she used to love. Which would be easier, you know, if she wasn't a psychopathic murderer.

On TV, the couple announce they're staying together and are having a baby, while behind closed doors Amy looks up to Nick with a sinister expression as he asks "what have we done to each other?"
