11 Scariest Final Shots In Thriller Movie History

1. Silence Of The Lambs

The Silence of the Lambs gave us an all-time great baddie in Hannibal "The Cannibal" Lecter. Sure, the character predated this film, showing up in novels and even stealing the face of Brian Cox for an adaptation of Manhunter, but Anthony Hopkins transformed an already terrifying villain into something larger than life, an icon spooky enough to properly scare the people watching him.

Even better, he managed to do that despite being firmly behind bars for the majority of Silence, and helping Clarice Starling track down another killer. Of course, he manages to get out by the end, with the use of someone else's cut-off face, and escapes his confines for good.

The final scene features one final conversation between him and Clarice over the phone, with the suave killer promising that she's too interesting to kill but that he's "having an old friend for dinner".

After putting the phone down, the final shot shows him drifting into an anonymous crowd, ready once again to indulge in his disturbing lifestyle - the implication being he could be anywhere, even in the same city as you.
